ADARIA

The FaeThe Clans

System of Government

The Governance of Adaria is less an actual government and rather a collection of Clans who tentatively all agree on the same subject. There is no King that resides over the peoples, and the people only answer to their Chieftain. Compared to its more Southern neighbors, Adaria is rather free spirited in the ways that the people can and have governed over themselves - However, this self-governance has been a strength and weakness time and time again. Still, Adarians are prideful people and one would never be caught dead disrespecting their own Clan in front of another.

Main Religion

The Faith of Adraia is akin to that of Elduria, having adopted and given worship to their three main deities. However, unlike Elduria, the Adarian people are skeptical ones. While they do not worship the Fae that inhabit their lands, they treat them with respect. Some bread and honey for safe travels. Milk at the window to invite in good spirits. So on and so forth.

Important Details

The people of Adaria are free spirited and 'wild' people. They are respectful of their clans, cultures and traditions. Folks tend to keep to their own business and care very little for the affairs of nations afar or even those of several villages over. However, an Adarian wronged is a wrath unlike any other. Their pride is their greatest strength and their mightiest undoing. Grudges go on for generations and entire bloodlines have waged 'wars' against each other for a slight that no one can name anymore.

History

The rolling hills and vast forests of Adaria were, for much of the lands existence, uninhabited by those of mortal blood. Instead it was the playgrounds of the Fae and ilk of their like. It was not until the Great Rift of the Dragons that mortal hands ever reached the verdant lands. Elves first made their colonies there, waging war against the Fae for their trickery in stealing their long lives.

These colonies never lasted, however. But in these colonies bones did the people that would be known as the Adarians come to settle. They came from far off lands, crossing either great spans of mountains or through treacherous seas. When they arrived to the land they saw the verdant forests and fields and found a home. They plowed the dirt and hunted its game. Surrounded by mountains to its West and South, ocean to its East, and the Unknown Tundra of the North, it was a land that protected itself from any outside forces. It is because of this that the lands grew wild and free, and with the peace that came with it, so too did the knowledge.

While no foreigner could ever name a great warrior or leader of the lands, one thing that any of them could speak of is the knowledge of the lands. Due to its relative peace and safety knowledge and academics have flourished in its lands. It is the single greatest source of knowledge to any who know of it, be that its oral or written documents.

This peace, however, could not last. In recent years the Fýðracians have sailed to their coasts - Their splendor and fertile lands caught the attention of many Fýðracian raiders and warlords. Each sought to carve a little piece of Adaria for themselves.
